Dad's Surgery and Memorial Day Weekend Visitors

Hello! I have quite a bit of updating and sharing to do, it seems. Hope everyone had a great LONG weekend. As I mentioned last week, Dad had his sinus and septum surgery last Wednesday afternoon. I would like to report that he had a super easy and painless recovery and was back to his normal self in no-time, but unfortunately that really isn't the case. First of all, the surgery went 1 hour longer than expected. The doctor that performed the surgery reported that he "definitely needed it done" and that there was "much more to fix than he originally thought." So, Dad has basically been laid out on the couch since last Wednesday night. He will get up for brief periods of time to do what he needs to do, and then he is right back on the couch. It has been really difficult for Mom to keep up without his help. Today was probably the best he has been, but he decided to take one more day off of work to take-it-easy. We are all REALLY looking forward to him feeling 100% again. His next appointment with the doctor that performed the surgery is this Thursday (and Mom is going to tag along and possibly mention that it was NOT cool that he was rushed out of the surgery center last Wednesday night after the procedure when he was clearly not doing so well). Please send my Daddy some positive healing thoughts.On Saturday Mom had to leave us and meet our lovely cleaning lady and Grandpa over at the townhome for some intense cleaning, painting, and steaming of the carpet. Grandma came over to hang with Alex, Dad and myself. Grandpa ended up fixing toilets, Lisa scrubbed away...and Mom tried to get the main carpet level and the stairs looking better (they were pretty dirty and icky). 3.5 hours and $100 later...our townhome looks MUCH better. Who knows? Somebody may even want to rent it and live in it for the next year!

On Saturday evening after Alex and I were in bed...Nanny and Adie showed up all the way from Weatherford, TX. They had a LONG day in the car and ran into a few car troubles. Luckily they were able to take their vehicle to the shop on Sunday and everything was easily repaired. Phew! Nanny and Alex visiting early on Sunday morning:

We had a great time hanging out around the house (we didn't go anywhere since Dad wasn't moving off the couch). We enjoyed some Sunday afternoon Starbucks, and Chicken Tacos for dinner. Monday (Memorial Day) morning hanging with Adie (I have definitely mastered the "Smile and Say CHEEEESE" thing:




On Monday morning we took a walk to the park with Nanny and Adie while Dad relaxed. It was nice to get out of the house and burn off some steam. Later in the afternoon, I helped Mom prepare for our BBQ by licking the chocolate spoon that was used to make our Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs:

We had a lovely dinner that consisted of burgers from the grill, baked beans, Watergate salad, pasta salad, Toffee-Apple salad, green salad, and the Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs that I helped Mom make for dessert. It was a fun time hanging out with family and enjoying the beautiful weather. We all just wished Dad was feeling better. Grandma also noticed that I had gone missing at one point...and there I was hiding behind a bush in the backyard. I was hiding because I needed to go #1 AND #2 and apparently fogot where that was suppose to take place. A double-accident means double the fun for Mom (cough, cough). Nanny and Adie headed out first thing this morning (at 5:00 AM). We will miss them and really enjoyed our short visit, and hope to make a trip out their way this Thanksgiving or Christmas. OH, and one last thing I wanted to share. Ms. Alex has turned into quite the Roly-Poly. She started rolling from tummy-to-back, AND then back-to-tummy last week. On Monday morning she was just all over the place using it as a means of transportation. Mom decided to catch it on video, and just for comparison purposes...went WAY back in this Blog to find when I was doing the same. It wasn't until I was almost 7 months old!! Almost a 2.5 month difference! Alex is just growing up WAY to fast. Feel free to slow-down, Alex...I'm not sure we are ready for you to be mobile just yet!

Weekend Happenings

Happy Monday, ya'll? YAWN. Well I was up half the night last night! So were my Mom and Dad and my baby sister! So we are off to a very sleepy and tired start. I was WIDE AWAKE between the hours of 11:30 PM and 2:30 AM and this is VERY unlike me. I was runnig a low-grade fever at 4:30 AM, so hopefully I'm not coming down with something. Alex was awake between 1:15 AM and about 3:45 AM, and lately...this is her norm. She still has a case of "THE POOPS" so Mom is getting up to change her diaper once...sometimes twice at night which causes a domino effect of a VERY awake baby and a VERY tired Mommy! Hopefully this all ends soon as we all need some good rest. We had a good weekend. Saturday we signed a contract and paid for Central Air Conditioning! Mom and Dad can't wait to have it installed and enjoy this summer (and all future summer's) in 72-76 degree temperatures inside! Woo Hoo! On Saturday night, The Loomis Family joined us for dinner. Gavin and I had fun playing and tiring out all of the adults. Mom caught some video of us being silly:

Sunday was spent catching up on household chores. Grandpa came over to try and help Dad get our front sprikler system in the front yard up and running (again). They think they are on to something...although Mom could have sworn they covered all bases as to what could be possibly wrong with them LAST summer when Grandpa came over for weeks to water our grass seed. Saturday afternoon nap time...veryone in the house was snoozin (including Molly and Moses) except for the person who could use a nap the most (and I'm sure you know who I'm talking about).

Alex is now rolling from belly to back, and back to belly. We keep telling her to slow down! There is no rush to grow up.

Sunday afternoon we decided to go to JC Penny's and shop for some comfortable clothes for Alex. Alex has more clothes than any one baby should own...but most of her clothes aren't practical for daycare. They are all super cute, but most of them are meant for warm weather, and the daycare is often pretty cool inside during the summer. Most of her clothes also have big bows or ties in the back...and that can't be comfortable to lay on all day. Mom found 9 pieces for Alex and I even got to pick out a t-shirt all for a total of $28. Score! (and you know I picked the Red Spiderman shirt!).

This week is a busy busy week. Dad has his sinus surgery on Wednesday afternoon and we are all hoping that his pain is manageable and doesn't leave him in bed for days. Mom isn't sure if she can survive without his help. Nanny and Adie come in from Fort Worth on Saturday, so it will be great to spend some time with them. Thank goodness next weekend is a 3 day weekend! We all need another day to catch up. Have a great week everyone!

Alex is 4 Month's Old + Mother's Day!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Ours was BUSY! We got to see some BIG trucks on Saturday morning, visit with some good friends on Saturday evening, celebrated Mother's Day on Sunday...and Alex is officially 4 months old! So, let's get started... Ms. Alex had her 4-month check-up and shots on Friday afternoon. Mom was really nervous about how she would handle the shots based on her 2-month check-up (where she screamed bloody murder for about 20 minutes straight). Turns out there was an improvement...not GREAT...but better. Waiting for Dr. Reich to come in:
Here are Alex's Stats! She is growing right on target and is just as healthy as can be:
Weight: 13 Pounds, 8 ounces (50th percentile)
Height: 25" (77th percentile)
Head Circumference: 16 1/4" (52nd percentile)
After her appointment we came home and just relaxed and hung out all evening. Alex actually feel asleep nursing around 6:00 PM, and that was really the last we saw of her awake until 7:15 AM Saturday morning. Those shots just wiped her out...poor thing. On Saturday morning we joined The Loomis Family for a fun event that was being held called "Touch-A-Truck." It was a pretty neat fundraiser that had all sorts of BIG trucks available for kids to see, climb in, and explore. There were TWO fire trucks, a couple of Army vehicles, a Big Rig, a tow truck, a SWAT vehicle and much more. I had a great time climbing in and out of them. Mom and Dad? Not so much. They BOTH managed to bang their heads (Dad bonked his head getting down from peeking out of the top of the SWAT truck, and Mom bopped her head on the inside of the Army tank). Ouch! After looking at all the trucks, we came home and ate lunch...and I took a nice long nap.

Later that night we went over to Auntie Amber and Jesse's house for pizza! I guess all the excitement (and juice) was just too much for me to handle because I ended up having TWO pee accidents and ONE poop accident...all within just a few hours! Let's just say that I did not want to stop having fun and playing with my friends to visit the toilet. We will all try better next time!

This is Precious...Mr. Jesse's Dog. She is super sweet and friendly, and reminds us of Niecci (well, except for the friendly part).
We had a great time visiting with everyone...good food...good friends...a GREAT time.
Sunday was Mother's Day! Dad went and picked up Egg and I to go...so we all had a nice breakfast (and Mom didn't have to cook...which was nice).
Alex and I got Mom a Starbucks Gift Card, and Dad paid for Mom to get a pedicure with Ms. Larissa and her old hockey buddy, Anu. Ms. Larissa and Mom had lunch before their pedicures and enjoyed some time without being interrupted (and Mom didn't have to cook...which was nice).

We think the shots from Friday may have upset her little system...so she had a case of "the poops" which landed her a rather painful and irritating diaper rash. Poor baby! Grandma and Grandpa came over Sunday evening and brought with them BBQ from Bird Dog. It was REALLY yummy (and Mom didn't have to cook...which was nice). Alex was rather fussy due to her sore bottom, but we are glad that we were able to spend some time with them and visit. Not much going on this week... Going to see about getting some Central Air Conditioning installed, Dad has a pre-op appointment for his sinus surgery taking place next week...and that's about it! Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Muffin's with Mom & Potty Training Update

Happy "Almost Friday" folks! Just a quick update... Yesterday we had "Muffins with Mom" at school. This was the first year Mom could make it because in years past...it is usually smack dab in the middle of the morning when she is usually at work. This year they scheduled it for 3:00 PM, so Mom was able to make it! I kindly handed out napkins to everyone, and sat right next to my buddy Gavin. His mama (Ms. Larissa) was able to make it...and only one other Mom was able to attend.

After our nice little visit, Ms. Larissa and Mom went and visited Alex and Gwyn in their classrooms. Alex was wide awake and happy to see Mom for a special visit (maybe she can have a muffin next year).
Last night we went to see THE CLAW at Gunther Toody's. It had been a good 6 weeks or so since our last Wednesday night visit. Grandma and Grandpa were able to adjust their schedule so they could meet us for an earlier dinner, and it worked out GREAT. Alex was in wonderful spirits, and we were home by 7:30! This was also my first outing since working this whole potty training thing. Mom took me to sit on the toilet twice...and I went right away. It was much easier than we all anticipated. I'm also happy to report that I have had ZERO accidents at daycare and other than a little miscommunication on Tuesday (my teacher thought I was suppose to wear a diaper during naptime), I have been diaper free since Saturday morning! Yesterday I woke up from my nap about an hour early...told Ms. Nikki "I need to poop!" and promptly did just that…right in the toilet! So my nap was cut short...but I felt 2 pounds lighter. I also woke up "dry" again this morning...so this is now 5 of the past 6 days I have waited until the morning to go pee in my Froggy Potty. Mom and Dad are so happy that this is going so well. Having to change 50% less diapers has it's perks!! Wishing everyone a great end to their week. Saturday night the plan is to eat pizza and visit with some of our friends. Sunday is Mother's Day so we are going to give Mom some extra special attention by sending her off to go get a pedicure! Grandma and Grandpa will be joining us for some BBQ and Fro Yo Pie on Sunday evening. Can't wait!
