Weekly Rewind

Time for the weekly re-cap. I enjoy keeping up to date on this weekly more than anyone else. I LOVE looking back through the posts over the years. So even on a week like LAST week when we really didn't have much going on(and there are quite a few weeks just like this) I still like to write a little something...and post pictures of the kids. Even if it is of them shoving their faces full of ice cream. As the years go by...I still enjoy those pictures just as much! So here we go.

Mom and Dad offered up a date night for Jeff and I Saturday night (thank you!), and who are we to turn down some adult conversation and alone time?  So Jeff and I went to Bonefish Grill for some tasty food and beverages.  The kids got Kids Meals from Mickey D's and had a fun time going to the park with grandma and grandpa.
YUM:

We decided we were going to...PAINT THE HOUSE!  The house has been needing exterior paint for years now.  It is one of those things you just HATE to spend money on...but soon we were going to be looking at rotting wood...and that would cost even MORE.  So we decided to cut out the middle man and call the head labor guy that a friend of ours uses...and 3 days later...we are going to have our house painted.  Should look SO much better when complete and we *hopefully* won't have to worry about painting it again for another 10+ years.

I took JR to a Birthday part on Saturday afternoon for a friend in his class while Alex hung back with Dad.  It was a very small party and was quite enjoyable!
Sunday afternoon was spent at the park.  It was windy...but tolerable.  Come on Summer!!

Silly girl!

Even Molly and Moses got to come along. Did I mention how much Moses HATES skateboarders?  Most the time we don't take him because he just can't keep it together when a person on a skateboard goes by.  Crazy dog.

The kids love watching the skateboarders do their thang.

After our park time, we rand some errands and went to Wendy's.  Because...who wants to cook and clean on a Sunday  night?  Ha!

Yesterday I had jury duty downtown.  I actually (for the first time) got my named called to go back to a trial.  The Defense Attorney ended up releasing me in the afternoon.  He did not like my response on trusting police officers.  I wouldn't have minded sitting on the trial that was expected to last 2 days...but I also have a lot going on at work and at home.  So I was going to be happy either way.

This weekend we have Disney on Ice with the LaSavio family.  Sunday is Easter! And we have volunteered to host the 3rd Annual Triple J Easter Egg Hunt and Brunch at our house.  Should be a good time.  Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

St Patty's Day and Garth Brooks

We had a pretty good week! The weather has warmed up a bit, and Spring is in the air!
Family photo shoot on St Patty's Day 2015:

St Patty's Day 2014:

Not much going on with the kids this past week.  Larissa and I got a day to ourselves in Denver.  We ate pizza and drank martinis at Wazzee Supper Club, and then went to the Garth Brooks concert.  He did amazing!  Brought back so many memories from the 90's.  He is doing a total of 9 shows in Denver.  How does he do it?  We had pretty darn good seats!

Bring me...TWO Pina Coladas!

Larissa and I taking selfies at the Pepsi Center:

Awesome!

We had a really good time while Jeff hung with the kids.  They rented movies and went to McDonald's for dinner.  After the concert, Larissa and I took our first pedicab about 2 miles down Walnut street to find our ride.  We thought we might die about 9 times...but it was a really fun end to our evening!

On Sunday...we got to finish up our guest bedroom makeover!  We both loved how it turned out, and we are very happy we went outside of our comfort zone and went with the DARKer purple.  Just a few more finishing touches, and the room will be complete and open for business.

After naps on Sunday...we ran a few errands.  Nothing says Sunday like a trip to the HD:

Oh, J.R. LOL.  That grass is going to cut itself you look so scary!

We had a gift card to spend at Barnes and Noble.  The kids picked out a few books and we killed some time at the store.

Then we went to Jason's Deli for dinner!

Alex likes the cone more than anything so she always has me scrape out all the ice cream.  Weird kid!

Not much planned for this week!  JR has a birthday party to attend on Saturday afternoon...and other than that...we are winging it!

Beautiful March Week

The weather warmed up nice this past week, and we all got a little bit of Spring Fever going on. It is still a bit early...but we all couldn't help ourselves!
So out for ice cream after dinner...we went!

Cheers!

Alex is obsessed with those little tangerines right now.  She can eat 5 of them in one sitting.  Here she is demanding more!

I did my nails with these nail wraps from Jamberry.  I love them! They might be my new obsession.

Friday morning...

On Saturday I ran the St Patty's Day 5k with Larissa.  We met up with the Orange Theory crowd before the race.  I was very pleased with my official time of 30 minutes, 5 seconds.  Not bad for 3.17 miles!  And YES.  I almost died.

Larissa and I went to lunch afterwards at Springs Orleans...the place where Jeff and I had our wedding reception. This was the booth we sat in on our wedding day. Awwww! Memories!

We had Shrimp Po Boy's and BEER.  Yum!

After the race we met the kids and the men at the park in Cordera.  We REALLY pushed Alex's nap, and she proceeded to have a complete meltdown and then pass out on the couch when we got home. Guess she still needs her afternoon beauty sleep!
Sunday morning muffin making!

I met Amber, Karissa, Baby Olivia, and Ami for a "birthday" breakfast downtown at the Wild Goose.  Coffee, beer, good food, and the most cozy atmosphere.  I love that place!
Amber and Baby O (Amber turns 34 today!)

I just love pretty latte art!

Karissa and I.

Ha!

Baby O was just as content as could be for the almost 2-hour visit.

She just got done recovering from an ear infection and RSV.  Poor baby!

Ami and I.  BFF's since the 4th grade! I imagine that is almost...25 years.  Wow!

I may have mentioned the weather has been great.   Yesterday it was 72!  So I took the kids to the park in the afternoon so that Jeff could paint the accent wall in our guest bedroom.

So nice to break away from the cold and dark wintery days and get OUTSIDE!

Alex was happy to see the skateboarders out.  They of course...have no language censor so we didn't stick around for very long.  Ha!

The guest bedroom accent wall turned out great.  That was until...we peeled the tape off and the purple pain leaked through.  So I spent over an hour re-touching the walls and I'm still not finished!  Booo!!!! I think it is going to look fantastic when we are done.

We decided Panera sounded good for dinner...and had time to walk over to Best Buy afterwards.

Alex standing with the Zebras.

Not much going on this week!  Larissa and I get to go to the Garth Brooks concert this Saturday!  Super excited about that. (-:

Closer to Spring!

We completed our first week of March, and we changed the clocks on Saturday...so we are headed in the right direction for Spring and...SUMMER! This week is going to be pretty nice...and we are all happy about that after a pretty chilly and snowy week.

The kids were celebrating the Birthday of Dr. Seuss all last week at school and let me tell you...it sure did make it a fun and "easier" week giving them something to look forward to every morning.  Monday was Hat Day.  Failed to get a picture of that. Tuesday was Whoville Hair Day. I tried so hard to get them to wear a mullet wig, but they just found it really creepy. So I decided to make it even creepier. HA!

Check out those braids! Thank you...thank you very much.

Wacky Wednesday!

Oh...and Jeff eating baked fried chicken and mashed potatoes.  This picture went to Mumsie, so I decided to go ahead and include it here (we were taste-testing Bob Evans mashed potatoes that Sharon introduced us to, and they were real winners).

Jeff had the crazy idea to "go ahead and re-do our guest bedroom" on our way home from work on Friday.  So we wasted NO time hitting up Bed Bath and Beyond for a "Bed in a Bag."  We are going to make the room awesome!  And much more functional for our guests that are visiting in the future.

The beginning...

We had another Birthday Party to go to on Saturday morning.  A little girl named Piper who was in P4 with J.R, and is now good buddies with Alex.  I asked J.R. to sign her card, and I was very impressed to see what he did on his own.  AND...he now signs for Alex!  Pretty cute.

Alex sat on my lap almost the entire birthday party.  It was heartbreaking watching her friends try and talk her into coming to play with them, just to have her tell them "NO!"

I can't get over how long and blonde Alex's hair has become!  I'm sort of glad she won't let us trim it, as those cute little curls and waves at the end might surely disappear.  I'm jealous!

We got an update from Devin this weekend and she said she is "starting to feel normal." This is great news, and we were happy to see this picture of her with Frito.  Looking Good!

Mom and Dad came over Saturday night to watch the kids so that Jeff and I could visit one of our new favorite breweries and have a little adult time.  Thanks Mom and Dad!  A food truck was visiting and we enjoyed some fried bread (forget what they were called) with our beers.  Yum!

This little pup named Elsa was visiting the brewery while we were there. So cute!

Sunday morning we rolled out of bed (After the Daylight Saving clock change), and went to pick up donuts!  I went and ran a 5K afterwards.  Jeff? Not so much.  LOL

Donut Face!

We decided to pack the kids up and head to Ikea in Denver for our very first visit.  We made the mistake of actually trying to furniture shop WITH the kids and HUNGRY.  Bad, bad, BAD idea.  We didn't make it very far in decision making before we decided to eat, and then drop the kids off with their free daycare service.  Alex went without any hesitation (which was odd).  They have a 60-minute time limit so although we didn't get much done...it was better than nothing!  And both kids had a blast and wanted to go back!

We ended up leaving Ikea with a few lamps, some frames, and a squirt bottle. Ha!

The rest of our Sunday evening was spent just hanging out. The kids went right to bed after skipping naps for the day (a good idea), but were still sound asleep 11 hours later this morning.  They never sleep 11 hours! What the...?  We had to wake up a very cranky JR.  Monday's are rough for this kid!  All weekend long he reminds us how much he loves "stay-at-home" days. He also complains about the cold quite often.  This child is going to find a way to move to Arizona or FL and retire at 25.  I just know it!
