Weekly Update

Although last week was fairly decent, we had our FOURTH snow day yesterday for the year.  Actually 4 1/3 if you count the delay we had earlier...which means the district has decided to expand the school day by 10 minutes starting in January.   This is an effort to keep the kids from going to far in to summer.  I'm sure we will have a couple more this Spring.  We made the best of it with some sledding, being lazy, and hot cocoa.
Watching a new Christmas movie with the family snuggled up on the couch last week.  As guilty as I feel sometimes  not having the kids involved in 18 different kinds of lessons all week long, it is nice to just come home and chill in the evenings.  We are busy enough as it is,

We had been waiting for Rita's to open by our house since the summer.  Finally! They opened!  And we were a little disappointed.  Alex found plastic in her frozen ice, and I paid WAY to much for a kids scoop that was tiny.  I think we will give them another try.  But...meh.

Plastic! Yum?

Oh well.  We know not to order that next time.

Added some white lights to our bedroom fireplace mantle and it isn't so plain anymore!  Might have to leave the lights up year-round.

This face greets me and stares at me every morning while I get my breakfast ready.  He was not pleased that we were out of turkey deli meat.  Sorry buddy!

On Friday night, we did the Gingerbread House decorating event at the school.  Check out this super cutie:

The houses came already assembled and the kit was great!  We bought two houses this year as we learned that one house for 4 people was a bit crowded last year.

Hard at work.

Lots of detail put in two both houses.

We sipped hot chocolate and  had different families stop by and admire our houses.  We are professionals, by now!  Check out the end result!  Eddie was very impressed.

Early the next morning we went to Mark's Annual Cookie Decorating Party at The Space Foundation.  I think this was our 9th year in a row!  As always, we  had a great time munching on snacks and decorating cookies.  The Holiday family joined us once again.

Pre-teen, anyone?

Family picture time!

Proud of his work.

Check out my cookies.  Even did one for Mosey!

And after decorating, we got to go walk around the Space Foundation.  Always super cool when you can decorate cookies and do some software coding at the same location.

After all that, we surprised the kiddos with a playdate with their besties. They thought we were headed to a boring afternoon of Home Depot and Bed, Bath and Beyond.  Ha!  The kids hung out with The Loomis Family while Jeff and I knocked out a few items on our Christmas list.

Pounce, loving the box.

And we stopped for a beer and a snack!

This was at Lazy Dog, which was AWESOME.

Pretzels with queso--yummy!

Pounce resting on Shawn.

Sunday, Larissa and Shawn dropped the kids off at OUR house so that they could knock out some errands.  Kid swap!
& as I mentioned--Monday was another snow day.   We got some sledding in before Alex slung JR in his face with snow.  Total buzz kill.

Eddie has been up to mischief lately!  He created his own Twister game!

& hung all the kids (clean) underwear on the tree this morning.  Oh geesh!

The annual Cookie Exchange that Amber and I host every year is coming up on Saturday.  I did a test run of my hot cocoa cookies and they sucked.  So I did them again following the recipe and they turned out fantastic. So much for high altitude adjustments.  FAIL.

Another weekend full of festivities.  Getting together with the neighbors on Friday night, and then the Exchange on Saturday.  Kids are out of school after Friday for 18 days!  Holy cow.
