Weekly Update

Minus a minor issue with Molly and her "rear end," we had a pretty decent week! We came home on Tuesday and noticed one of her glands were infected. So, Jeff spent 2 hours at the vet with her Tuesday evening. Almost $200 and a lot of cleaning up of messes...Molly is doing much better!
Not a happy camper with a diaper on her rear. I'm glad I didn't give all the old diapers away!

J.R's buddy Luke and his family left for their move to Georgia last week.  We decided to get the kids together for one last visit at Pizza Time on Wednesday night.  We got a little dose of what those poor Kindergarten teachers at the daycare have to deal with on a daily basis.  Get these little boys together and all the excitement that it brings and there is no stopping them.  Phew!

We had our follow-up appointment to get the results for Alex's speech evaluation on Thursday afternoon. They would like to go ahead and start speech therapy with her once a week, for an estimated 6-12 months.  She has a minor lisp and they are confident they are really going to be able to help her with some of the letters she is having a hard time with.  Like the letter "R." It was explained to us that although it is minor...if it doesn't correct itself in the next couple years...it could make learning how to read difficult for her. So we are starting right away!

The kids had soccer on Saturday morning.  We all enjoy the sun and JR and Alex have a blast on "soccer island."  Jeff left with Shawn for a dude weekend in Divide.  So, the kids and I got together with Loomis family that was left behind, and joined them at their community pool in Cordera.  Man! We anticipated that the pool would be packed considering it was almost 90 degrees? But it wasn't! And we had the place to ourselves.  It was just the perfect day and the water was amazing.  The pool is very shallow and the kids had a blast splashing around and playing.

Snacks! Lots of pool snacks.  The 2nd most important thing behind weather when it comes to pool time!



We hope there are some more nice weather days so that we can join them again this summer.


On Sunday the kids and I woke up and went to breakfast at our favorite place...Egg and I! We made a stop at Target for some items to make JR's "crystals" and fabric paint to pain on some rocks (inspired by the rocks that sit outside of Egg and I).

Kept them busy for at least 20 mins!

And cupcakes! We made cupcakes, too!  Because...why not?

Jeff made it home in the afternoon and I got to visit with Kendra who gave me purple tips! (on my hair).  We have been busy getting the town home ready for the next set of tenants. We didn't even have to market it this time around!

Tomorrow Grandma and Grandpa will be joining us for Grandpa's Birthday celebration.  On Friday afternoon, we are leaving for a long weekend with Karissa, Baby O, Hannah, and Jeff to Salida, CO.  We rented a little cabin off the beaten path, but close to town.  We plan to attend the parade, visit a couple of breweries, and enjoy some company with our friends.  Looking forward to our little mini vacay.

Father's Day Weekend

We had a wonderful week and weekend. It seems that summer has finally decided to get here. 92 degrees yesterday. Hot! Be careful what you ask for!

We had a rare double rainbow sighting last Thursday.  Beautiful!


She takes more maintenance...but some days I'm super proud when I nail it!

We started soccer Saturday morning.  Jeff and I are constantly amazed at how much Alex is coming out of her shell.  From being super non-trusting and timid to trying new things and venturing out on her own.  I was starting to think she was never going to leave our sides or our laps.  She was super pumped about starting soccer with JR, but Jeff and I were a little apprehensive showing up.  She showed up...and didn't HESITATE to join the rest of the kids.  She did outstanding and was super focused, cooperative, and just blew us away.  Smiling! Laughing!  Just wow.

JR did excellent as well. Much better than last Fall when he was still pretty distracted.  He was also super engaged and focused.

Saturday was a busy day. After lunch and naps, we left for Connor's 7th Birthday at Trampoline World.  Here is Ms. Alex again...actually playing and having fun.


Directly after Connor's Birthday Party...we were off to Savannha's 5th Birthday.  Savannah has been in P4 with JR, and now Alex.  The kids had a great time.

JR broke a sleeping-in record on Sunday morning...7:30 am!  Guess we wore him out on Saturday with all of our running around.  Since Sunday was Father's Day...we gave Jeff the gift of SLEEP.  He slept-in until 11 am!  I played "Dad" and went in the skeevy storage shed and drug out the swimming pool to let the kids splash around. Ahhh...summer is here.

We had a pretty laid-back day. I even got to take a 2 hour nap. Whaaat?  Jeff received two fancy beer growlers.  I just couldn't decide! They also came filled with Nano 108 beer. What a lucky dude!

Mom and Dad came over to visit before we went to Freddy's for dinner. Did I mention I didn't have to cook?  It felt like a repeat of Mother's Day.
I'm calling around today to see where the openings are for Senior Living. HAHAHAHAH.

Jeff said he had a great weekend! Next weekend he is off for a "guys" weekend in Divide.  J.R. has a lot of activities going on at school this week...including a movie theater trip tomorrow.  Last week he went to Skate City and claimed he did pretty well.  I'm hoping to get both kids accustomed to skating in the next few years. An activity super close to my heart.  We are meeting J.R's good friends that are moving to Georgia on Wednesday night for dinner.  Another busy week ahead.

In Summer!

FINALLY. Summer feels like it is here. Well. Sort of. We got to whip out the water table on Sunday and at least pretend it was 90 degrees out. Hey! 72 is close enough...and I reminded myself not to complain (too much).

The kids had a fairly good week, and we had a really good weekend. JR got to go to the Splash Park, and Trampoline World last week (the park day was cancelled due to rain), and Alex went on her VERY first field trip to Trampoline World as well. Perfect timing as we have Connor's Birthday at Trampoline World this weekend.

On Friday Jeff and I took Alex in for a Speech Evaluation at the CDC (Child Development Center). A very nice speech therapist by the name of Amber warmed Alex up almost instantly, and she had a blast participating in all the things that Amber was requesting of her. After the evaluation, Amber explained that right off the bat...she does NOT think Alex has any speech issues right now that are major by any means. That she would definitely not qualify for assistance in public school, and that if anything she may need a little boost but she isn't sure that is required. We go back in a few weeks to go over the results and will have more to go off of then.  We took Alex to breakfast afterwards.  This child just doesn't really know what it has EVER been like to have Mom and Dad to herself! Tis the life of a 2nd child.


After breakfast we dropped her off at school and I spent almost 2 hours at the DMV, and then joined our property manager for a walk-thru at our town home.  Hoping to get it on the market for showings this week!

Saturday was spent hanging out, and Grandma and Grandpa came over to hang with the kids for a few hours while Jeff and I had some time to ourselves.  We grabbed a couple beer and ate at Chipotle.  Perfect! Thanks Mom and Dad!!

We took the kids to breakfast Sunday morning before strolling Lowes for rental stuff and flowers.  I told JR we were going to Egg and I and he said "MOMMY!! YOU JUST BLEW MY MIND!!"  Funny kid.


JR and Alex could play on the riding lawn mowers outside of Lowes for HOURS.



As I mentioned we came home and busted out the water table.  Alex holds interest in it much longer than her brother.

I can get him to come back outside with juice boxes and snacks.  (-:


Later in the afternoon the Loomis Family came over for burgers on the grill.  I was really in the summer mood this past weekend!  These two sure are growing big!

This week Jeff is going to spend some time getting things cleaned up at the town home.  JR gets to go to SKATE CITY this week, and both kids are going to The Fine Art Center on field trips.  They also are taking a cooking class on Wednesday.  I have plans to possibly hike the Manitou Incline one night this week.

Circus Weekend and Amber's New House

We had a lovely weekend after a very short week. Last Thursday felt like a Monday, and Friday felt like a Friday. It was weird! We took the kids to the circus again this year with Catie and family. Although it was good...we weren't as impressed as we were after last year's show. It was tamed down quite a bit. JR was feeling the difference as he asked if we could leave 3 times because he was bored. Alex didn't blink and loved it. Funny. Grandma and Grandpa got to join us this year!


Probably the most impressive part of the show, and it took place right in front of us.

After running some errands on Sunday morning, I made a stop by the emergency vet to hang with Baby Olivia while Karissa visited with a very sick Roger.  We hope he pulls thorough.

After naps, we drove over to the West-Side to visit Auntie Amber's new house that she bought about a  month ago.  It is in a very neat area of town with little coffee shops, donut shops, and breweries within walking distance.  The house fits her and Jesse just perfect.
Alex warmed up to the trampoline.  (Don't worry--it has a built-in net so no little bodies can go flying off of it).  Once she warmed up we couldn't peel her off!

We had a great time visiting and hanging with everyone.  This week JR has LOTS of stuff going on at school. They have an activity or field trip almost every day.  Alex has her first field trip on Thursday to Trampoline World.  Seems like Summer is finally here.

On Friday we are taking Alex in to the Child Development Center to have her speech evaluated.  Although she clearly understands everything that is spoken to her, she seems to have a hard time articulating what she wants to say.  We are curious to see what the professionals think.  Our tenants are getting ready to vacate our rental, so this upcoming weekend is being left open for possible work that will have to be done before the home is ready to re-rent.
