Weekly Happenings

We had a fairly decent week. Everyone was healthy--until Sunday!
Jeff took the kids to their dentist appointment with Dr. Palmer last Thursday.  Everyone did great and no cavities!

I got to meet Ami for a delicious lunch at Till on Friday.  I'm still dreaming of my chicken sandwich and mint limeade.  Mmmmm.

And the boys were grumpy so Alex and I went for ice cream.

While we were gone--Moses had injured is paw and he was totally flipping out.  And his little paw was in a total spasm.  We decided to take him to the ER vet, and once Jeff arrived--he stopped freaking out.  So, he brought him home and he started to act more normal.  Thank goodness! Here is is looking for some lovin from JR.

And on Saturday morning he was putting all his weight back on it and acting just fine.  Phew!  We had a BOGO to our favorite breakfast place that was about to expire--so we decided to go and chow down.

We ran a few errands, took naps, and then went to Cooper's 4th Birthday celebration at Villa!  Jeff and I each got a gym workout in, too. Win win!

They got to play soccer and make crafts and jump on the bouncy house and climb the climbing wall. Quite the fun party!




On Sunday, I got to meet with my group of local surrogates at Little Monkey Bizness.  JR decided to stay back as he wasn't feeling well--and sure enough come late morning he spiked a fever.  So Alex had a good time running around like a little monkey while I got to visit with the other mamas.  Between the 8 of us--there are 6 babies brewing!  Two singletons, and two sets of twins.  And two recent deliveries--one singleton and one set of twins. Two of the ladies are waiting to be matched so they can move on to contracts.  We had a great time catching up.

And my tests have just become darker and darker!

And last Thursday I had my first blood test and the number was great! They wanted anything above 300, and it came in at 815.

Today was my 2nd beta test, and it came in at 3,315! Exactly where they wanted it to be and I'm now done with confirmation blood tests.  The ultrasound where they will see if they can see a heartbeat will be on September 9th.  Feels like forever!

Sunday afternoon--I spot a guy with a green shirt on the roof!  (That would be Jeff looking around).

JR is home sick from school today with the devil virus!  He woke up around 1:30 in the morning with a 103 fever and stridor.  I'm thinking the croup virus claimed another victim.  It finally started to come down around 3 am--and there was a rather annoying thunderstorm hanging right over us for hours last night.  Exhausted today.  Otherwise I have been feeling really good.  This weekend we are getting our roof replaced, and we might see Aunt Amanda as she is going to be in town.  I'm trying to talk Jeff into the Colorado State Fair--I think the kids would really enjoy it.

Weekly Happenings

I thought the icky cold season was supposed to wait until the weather started getting cooler?  This little one woke up with a 102 fever on Wednesday morning, and stayed home from school for two days.
She got to go grocery shopping with me--and of course she found the $.01 horsey rides!

Alex and Moses have been best buds lately. AT least SOMEBODY will pay attention to neglected Moses!  Ha!





Alex was back at school on Friday, and Saturday she was pretty much back to her normal self.  Of course Jeff woke up with a sore throat on Saturday morning, and I had the sore throat today.  Yuck!

Saturday afternoon every one decided to take it easy while I went to a baby shower for my friend Amy, and her new baby Kelly.  Amy's original shower was scheduled for the end of June--but Kelly came early so we had to move it.  I didn't get any pictures--but it was a good time holding all the cute babies (yes--there was more than one), and visiting with friends.  OH--and they had Bird Dog catered so that was awesome.

We decided to pack up a picnic lunch and head to Fox Run for a little Vitamin D! It was such a beautiful day for August.  We played catch with the football, Frisbee, and tried to fly a kite.  We needed a bit more breeze to keep it sailing.

After the park, Grandma and Grandpa came over for a visit--which meant Jeff and I went and grubbed on some tasty burgers from a new place in town called Bad Daddy's.  They were soooo good!  Thanks Mom and Dad!

And---I have been getting some pretty steady positive pregnancy tests since last Wednesday! This little booger might be sticking around!  My official HCg Beta Test is this Thursday, then again on Monday and then then Wednesday. They want to see if the numbers are doubling every 48 hours--so I guess we will wait and see. But so far--the test lines are looking solid.  I'm officially 4 weeks, 1 day today, and feeling okay.  My Progesterone injection sites are pretty sore and so are the muscles.  I'm also pretty tired even after a full nights sleep.  But! Still functional--although it now hurts to jog with my love-handles absorbing some of the shock. Oh well!

Not much going on this week!  JR had Thursday off of last week for testing (which he completed in about 4 mins), and this week he has Friday off.  Saturday is Cooper's Birthday party--and Sunday the kids and I are meeting with the surrogate group for a playdate.

JR Starts 1st Grade and Trip to Maryland!

We had a great week! JR enjoyed his last few days of summer camp at daycare, and he was up and dressed with his bed made all ready for his 1st day of first grade on Wednesday, August 10th! Did I mention he also figured out how to tie his shoes on his own a few weeks ago?  Even double knotted.  Amazing!

We decided to walk him in on his first day. Not a single worry in the world.  He said his first day was excellent and is very pleased that he gets to choose where he wants to sit at lunch time.

On Thursday morning, we dropped the kids off at school and were off to Maryland for Embryo Transfer!  We flew out of Colorado Springs and went to Dallas, and then to DC.  Very smooth travel day.  Ms. Cassie held down the fort with the kids and the pups. She did a great job!  Sent me this picture on Thursday night at Chick Fil A. They hardly look like they miss us at all (:

Jeff and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner (and what could be one of my last adult beverages for a LONG time if all goes well) at a place that was recommended to us last time we were in Rockville--Coastal Flatts.  It did NOT disappoint!

Crab Cakes on the East Coast are just--amazing.  Mmmmmm.

We picked up Cassie and the kids some treats and this cool little candy store...

And Friday got a couple pics of the area.

It was...HOT. Like really Hot.  Like 98 degrees plus super high humidity.  We were able to walk around a little bit in the morning and then we didn't come back out until the sun went down.

Of course I insisted on picking up these guys for an After Transfer Treat!

And we visited a 2-story Target.  Jeff and I were both very impressed with the elevator that takes your cart up and down.

We had some lunch--relaxed a bit--and then we were off to Shady Grove for the Transfer.  Jeff was the photographer.  Here I am probably asking 143 questions.  I get it from my Dad.  Love you Dad!

And here we go.  The doctor said that the frozen embryo retained its quality at 95% of what it was before being frozen--which is great.  It was also graded at AA--which is the highest you can get.  They insert a catheter through your cervix to your uterus (if you have a uterus), and the little embie gets nudged with a bit of saline--and that is that!

My case manager (Jen) from my agency and a new case manager met Jeff and I in the waiting room, and brought us some lovely flowers.

And we ate those cupcakes.

And now we wait!  I can probably start testing later this week to see if there is a positive test, and the official HCG pregnancy Beta test will be NEXT Thursday morning.  I have been feeling great--and the injections are still going really well.  Jen told me I must be a freak of nature to be feeling so good on all the fertility meds.  Maybe I was meant to be a surrogate.

After relaxing and hanging out--we went to another lovely dinner at a place called Cooper Canyon Grill.  Shrimp, Steak, and Ribs--Oh my!

Our server giving us the run-down on Pokemon Go.  So after the meal...we just HAD to go walk around the lake for an hour catching Pokemon.  LOL

And managed to clear enough space to come back--and get dessert.  Mmmmm.  Can you say...Miserably FULL?

On Saturday morning--we were already headed back home!  The kids got to go to Sebestain's Birthday party with Cassie and Ara. 4 hours long!  Playing in the sun and having a blast.


Our flight was delayed getting out of DC, but thankfully our connecting flight was also delayed in Dallas.  We made it home about an hour later than scheduled.
Sunday morning--ahhh! There is no place like home!



This week JR has testing on Thursday, so he already gets a day off!  We have a family baby shower we are attending on Saturday for Amy and Brad, and Baby Kelly.
