Arizona Trip and Las Vegas for Jeff's 40th Birthday

Well. We are back! And we all have some post-vacation blues going on today. We had a wonderful trip (minus JR coming down with a mystery illness that came with a 103-degree fever for a little over 2 days). We could have easily all stayed another day or two...or for at least another couple months as the weather is just amazing this time of year in Arizona. We missed a pretty big storm while we were soaking up the 70 degree weather, but it looks like it is going to snow everyday here for the next week! Yuck!

We had excellent driving weather to DIA last Wednesday. The kids travel so great these days...maybe because they are used to it...maybe because they are just finally old enough to behave. Either way...we will take it!
Waiting for our plane...we found a Quiznos. They all closed up here in COS...and Jeff and I seriously miss it!

Not a single complaint out of this one...almost the entire trip! Could she be turning into our "easy" child??

Ahhh...it was so lovely to land into this.  Take us back!!!

Happy plane traveler:

The kids have their iPads and headphones and they are set!

Shuttle to pick up the rental car...Alex likes to nowhere else but my lap.

We got in and got unloaded...and made a grocery store run. Vondrea insisted on squeezing between the seats and coming along!

The kids found some ripe oranges that had just fallen off the tree in the backyard.  They were delicious, too!! Mind = Blown!

On Wednesday night, Jeff stayed back with the kids while I went over to Lynda and JJ's nutrition bar that is RIGHT across the street from their house. They were doing "fit camp" and I was all about trying it out.

After Fitcamp, they made me a delicious protein shake.  Yum!!

Thursday morning coffee run...this one insisted on coming along this time!

Of course Simba took a major liking to Dr. Doolittle (aka Jeff):

We knew something wasn't right when JR crashed on the couch before lunch.  Uh Oh.

Sure enough...he had a 103 fever, so we didn't waste anytime seeing if he tested positive for strep or the flu as he was complaining about being sore and his throat hurting.

Tests all came back negative!  So we dosed up him on Motrin and Tylenol and we continued on with our trip.

Thursday night soccer practice.

Silly Jazelle.  This girl can RUN. She can run a 6-minute mile!!!

Beautiful girls

JR not feeling good...just not acting himself.

And out again in the car.

But that didn't stop us from visiting you know what....

Jeff said he wanted IN-N-Out at least twice on our trip...and we made sure he got it!
Friday afternoon park walk...I just can't get over how beautiful the weather was.

Friday night they had a Family Game night at the nutrition bar.  We all had a great time meeting new people and playing games.

Alex and Aunt Lynda cheesin!

Oh, and I totally drug Lynda and JJ to the new Orange Theory in Lake Pleasant.  We all got a great workout in.

More of family game night...

On Saturday morning we got the kids ready, and Jeff and I left for our 4.5 hour drive to Las Vegas.  This was our 2nd In-N-Out stop in Kingman, Arizona.  It was (again) delicious!

Meanwhile back in Peoria, Katja had her 5th Birthday Princess Party and the kids were able to attend.  Aren't they adorable?

Uncle JJ and JR letting the girls "do their thang."

Alex had a great time! Seems like she is a lot less shy when she doesn't have Jeff or I around to cling to.

Awwwwwww....I just had a flash-forward to her wedding day! Sniff.

Plenty of park visits took place while Jeff and I were in Las Vegas.

Selfies for Mom and Dad!

Here we go...our first sight of the strip from the highway.  It has been almost 6 years since Jeff and I were last in Vegas.  I was pregnant with JR, and really couldn't partake in much.

We stayed at the Encore...and it was by far the nicest Vegas Hotel we have ever stayed at.  Should have got more pictures of our amazing room!

Saturday night...first night out.  We met Shawn and Larissa for a couple of drinks in the lobby. We had an AMAZING dinner at the SW Steakhouse at The Wynn.  Jeff had a 9oz fillet that was incredible. Perfection!

I had an amazing pasta dish with King Crab Legs, and everyone was very happy with their meals.

We didn't really have a plan...so we sort of wondered all over the place until 3 am!  I walked WAY too far in a new pair of shoes that I thought would be great.  Boy was I wrong.  I seriously jacked up my feet for a couple of days!

We still had a good time...but ouch!  It was 3 am, and Larissa and I already had 10,000 steps in for the day!  Oy!

Sunday was Jeff's 40th Birthday and we started it off right with Brunch at the Wynn.  This was the 2nd best brunch I have ever had (behind the Broadmoor, of course).  The quality of the food was amazing, the flavor was top-notch, the service was incredible, and the food options were endless.  Man was it good!!!!

Blurry picture...but Jeff got a Gelato sandwich.  Yum!

Back at Aunt Lynda's...

Naps were sort of hit or miss!

And later on Sunday afternoon we went to Cabo Wabo for Margarita's.  Delish!

NYNY.  We had a good time putting a few quarters in at the bar and sippin on a few adult beverages!

Late night dinner....Mmmmmm.

Hey! That is MY name!

We had a great time Sunday night as well, and woke up to another Wynn Buffet breakfast.  Heaven! After brunch we packed up and headed back.  The kids had a great time hanging with their cousins and Aunt Lynda at the nutrition bar.  It was so extremely nice to get away...with the kids, and then just Jeff and I.  I kept telling Jeff that we REALLY need to travel more.  Especially warm places in the dead of winter!  We were very appreciative that the kids were happy and well taken care of while we had our weekend alone.  Thanks Lynda and JJ!!
"May I take your order?"

Katja really warmed up to us all this trip.  Last time we saw her she was so quiet!

Getting ready to leave to catch our plane on Tuesday morning.  JR and Alex really enjoyed Uncle JJ.

We had a smooth travel day back, and Molly and Moses were super excited to see us.  Back to the grind today!  Two Birthday parties taking place this weekend and more...SNOW.  Ugh. Can it be Spring already?
