Long Memorial Day Weekend

We had a great Memorial Day Weekend. The amount of rain we have been receiving has been incredible! So we didn't quite get the weather we had been hoping for. It definitely does not feel like June is right around the corner. "Whoever is praying for rain can STOP."

JR got his mop chopped last week.  He needed it!  Along with his new hair cut came the reveal of a double bruise on his forehead.  See that thing?  Last week he went head first into the bed headboard, and two days later he went head first into a door.  We told he needs to stop before we start getting investigated!

We got word that Ms. Colleen and Ms. Erika are leaving Hope, so we made little going away flower pots for them.  They will both certainly be missed.  Jeff and I are counting down the days to when Alex starts Kindergarten at public school.  We are ready to move on.

J.R's Kindy class had a little graduation ceremony last Thursday.  About 5 of his classmates are going to be attending 1st grade next year, and the rest will be doing public Kindergarten.  It was a cute little ceremony.

I can see him doing this same thing in about 12 years!

After graduation, we went out for Fro Yo at J.R's favorite place.


Jeff and stuck to our 3rd Annual Memorial Day Weekend Tradition of taking the kids to daycare, and having a day to ourselves.  First stop?  King Chef Diner at the little purple castle.

2015...only he was missing his sunglasses (due to the cloudy skies).  What a great sport letting me take pictures of him like we are tourists.  Ha!

We then went to Castle Rock for a little shopping, and stopped at one of our favorite breweries on our way back in Monument.  Ahhh...perfection!

On Saturday we took the kids bowling for their first time with the Triple J group.  Alex took a few minutes to warm up...and then she fell in love!

We all had a great time...managed to kill about 3 hours...and promised we would do it again soon!
On Sunday morning we decided to brave the weather and head to the zoo!  We timed it pretty well, actually. The rain didn't start until we were eating lunch and ready to head home.  I feel like we got to see more animals than past trips...up close and personal.  I called the day "Bird Day at the Zoo" as we got to get a good look at a few birds.

Then we ran into this guy who was showing off for his girlfriend.  JR said "Peacocks have girlfriends?"  Hahhah.

This female Bald Eagle just hanging out.  So pretty. Oh! And we got to witness two turkey's making baby turkey's.  Gobble Gobble (didn't get any  pictures--thought that would be an invasion of privacy or something...)

The kids were home from school yesterday (Memorial Day) and we had Cassie come over to the house to show her the routine for watching Molly and Moses while we are gone.  After naps (did I mention we got to nap 3 days in a row?  LOVELY)...we ran a few errands and went to Bonefish for dinner.  The  kids did great and I had THE BEST PAD THAI I have ever experienced in my life!  We ran to Trader Joe's for a few plane snacks and other fun goodies after dinner.  The local news reported this morning that a man tried to snatch a woman's purse from that same Trader Joe's shortly after we had been there.  A few customers and employees chased the guy down and he ditched the purse in the parking lot. Glad we weren't there for all that drama.

This week is busy as we prepare for our trip to the Big D.  We might be bringing the kids to work on Thursday to watch the Thunderbirds fly...weather permitting.  We leave Saturday morning from DIA and return next Wednesday. Plans are already shaping up to be busy busy!  A family BBQ on Sunday afternoon, an adult dinner at The Grotto Monday night,  Brunch with Pat and Adrian on Tuesday morning, and Devin's graduation on Tuesday evening.  Then we head home early Wednesday morning.  Looking forward to seeing everyone and having a little break from work. No break from the rain! As it looks like the DFW weather is very similar to what we have going on here...RAIN.  Sigh.
