Fort Collins Labor Day Weekend!

Man did we have a great little getaway weekend! I'm sort of bummed it is over! We all just enjoyed getting away for a bit...enjoying good food and beverage...staying in a hotel...and getting to de-stress from all the little things.

We got some more tickets to the Sky Sox game last Wednesday from a co-worker.  With the stadium being RIGHT around the corner from the house, and a beautiful forecast...how can we say NO?

And we totally had to get Rocky Mtn Chocolate Factory Candy apples.

Such a beautiful evening.

Silly girl.  That extra tooth sure does come in handy when eating caramel apples!  LOL

Jeff and I planned to take Friday off of work and enjoy some time to ourselves while the kids were at school.  It is what keeps us sane, I tell ya!
Breakfast at King Chef!  Mmmmm.  Somebody doesn't look happy to be getting sneak pictures taken of them....

We shopped the day away and visited a brewery on the West Side that we hadn't yet been to.  It was a fun afternoon!

On Saturday, we got around to packing and dropped the pups off with Melanie.  We headed for Denver and had my wedding rings inspected at the Shane Co, and then did our obligatory Dickey's Lunch next door.

Then we were off to Oskar Blues in Longmont.  Jeff and I had never been...and it was on our list!  We really enjoyed the "feel" of the place...airy and open and they were playing great music.  And of course...they had great beer. We got to try some small samples of their Speciality beers that you can't find just anywhere.  The kids had fun hanging out, too!

They had a cool little game room off to the side that we discovered as we were leaving.  Next time!

This guy REALLY enjoyed the Root Beer and peanuts!

After Oskar's, we journeyed on up to Fort Collins and checked in to the Hilton. We used to stay at the same Hilton for hockey tournaments.  Now...there is a coffee shop and some cool places to eat within just a few minutes walking distance.  Score!

On Sunday morning we walked to the coffee shop for breakfast.  Ahhhhh...

And a train went right be the front doors.  Lot's of train traffic.  TWO that woke me up at 4 am, and 5:30 am.  Yawn.

Watching the train go right by...

We drove to Old Town after breakfast and walked around for a bit.  We were there before most the shops were open...but we managed to find a toy store and a candy store and that made the kids happy! I forget what a fun area Old Town is.  We could have easily stayed another day!

So! Much! Candy!

We let the kids go at it in the candy store. Whatever you want!  They were pretty thrilled.

Fort Collins has so many cool parks around town!  We stopped at one before lunch.

After nice long naps (my favorite), we met up with the Lang Family for Camryn's 5th Birthday Party in a nearby park.  JR has no problem jumping in and making friends with a Pinata is involved.

Cool park gear that we had never seen before.

And after the party we got to visit with Julie and Zach for a bit at their house.  We left so they could eat dinner...and we picked up my favorite Panino's on the way back.  We ate at the hotel and let the kids jump around like crazy people.  It was a good time.

Sunday morning before leaving we decided to eat at the Hotel.  Lucky as the fire alarms were set off by a burnt piece of toast.  Guess who freaked out...and they decided to comp our meals! AND! They gave us 4 free Starbucks drinks!  Way to go, Alex!!  HAHAHAH.

We packed up and headed for Denver.  We hit Ikea around noon, and the kids played for an hour as they have FREE babysitting while Jeff and I lined up the furniture we are getting for Alex's room.  WE are ready for her to have a proper bed and dresser!  Sadly, only the night stand would fit in the back of the Pilot so we will be taking another trip to Ikea soon.  We got to enjoy a free lunch on Ikea as they were running a cool promo!  Free food day for the Wright Family!

We made it home in plenty of time to do laundry, pick up Molly and Moses, and get ready for the week.  The short trips are just perfect!  Not much to pack or un-pack!  Jeff decided to start right in on the Ikea assembling...if this guy can't do it...NOBODY can.

Busy week this week, and Jeff is leaving for a camping trip this weekend so the kids and I are doing the solo thing!
