We left home about 6:00 am on Sunday morning for a 10:30 flight out of Denver. Our travel to and from DIA and Mexico went extremely smooth this year. We only waited in customs in Mexico for about 10 mins, vs over 90 mins like we did last year. Such a huge relief!

3.5 hours of flying, and a 45 minute commute to our hotel and we have arrived! We had a very warm welcome and check-in was super smooth.

The first afternoon/evening we got there we decided to make a jet for the beach. We were eaten alive by bugs! We didn't bring sunscreen as they were not an issue the past two years.
A lot less seaweed. But, we are pool people. The beach is just okay.

This trip we decided we would commit to going off the resort grounds and doing something different! So, we bought our tickets to Xel-Ha about a month ago. We got our water shoes ordered, and got everyone prepared and read to go. Let's just say we didn't plan it so well, and between the expensive taxi ride and all the work--we probably won't be doing it again anytime soon.
I sort of dragged everyone out of bed early and then marched them 2 miles in to the middle of a jungle to the zip line, to find that nobody was working the zip line. To later find out we could have rode a train! So we got on a lazy river that wasn't really flowing, so it ended up being even more work. All this without eating any breakfast as we just didn't think it would be 2.5 hours before we made it back to the buffet. Hangry, anyone? We did get some neat pictures though!

On our way back, Jeff and JR did do some cliff jumping! So that was fun. JR went TWICE! I was shocked to see him actually jump and so proud.

JR wasn't too sure about standing so close to them. LOL.

We also snorkeled! But only after two shots of rum. Hey! I have a thing with standing water! It grosses me out!
We had a pretty neat time until a Stingray went by and everyone freaked out a bit. I was like, "Hey! People pay good money to see Stingray's!"

Overall it wasn't a terrible day. Just sort of expensive and frustrating. But hey! We went!

I'm not sure if we will return again next year, or maybe try a different Paradisus hotel somewhere else. We truly enjoyed our family time, and a break from the day to day routine. It was much needed!
