First day of Thanksgiving break started with donuts, and we were the ONLY ones in the store. A sign it was meant to be!
This little guy found a comfey spot for an afternoon snooze.
Molly and Moses had their annual check-ups on Tuesday afternoon. They weren't really cooperating for a selfie in the exam room. Dr. Pierce was happy to see Molly still getting around with her back condition, and didn't feel she appeared to be in any sort of pain.
We will take every day that we have left with these two.
Wednesday afternoon we headed up to Salida/Poncha Springs area for our long weekend away. Dinner was at one of our favorite places--Moonlight Pizza. Yum!
Thursday was Thanksgiving, and we decided to get out for a bit to get some exercise. Alex loved going over to say hello to the horses across the drive. They sure were friendly every time we came over to visit.
We walked over to check out the Chaffee County Fair Grounds. Some day we will have to time our visit that we stay while this is happening. We got to check out the brand new grandstands.
And although one of our favorite breweries was closed, we still walked by and said hello.
We skipped lunch and got dressed and ready and headed out to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort of a delicious Thanksgiving dinner.
The dinner was at the pavilion where they hold special events and wedding receptions. It was a very pretty with all the huge windows allowing you to see the beautiful scenery all around.
The dinner was buffet style as you can see the food warmers behind JR and I in this picture--but holy cow as the food delicious!
We started off with a tomato soup and delicious salad with cold salmon.
The had turkey, ham, cod, cranberry salad, mac n cheese, green bean casserole, sweet potato pecan casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, and roasted corn. We were SO stuffed that Jeff and I couldn't finish our plates let alone go back for seconds. WE also didn't have any room for dessert )-:

After dinner we went and walked around for a bit.
JR was checking out the hot water coming from the natural springs.
The cold was starting to move in over mountains with some light snow.
It was a great Thanksgiving spent with just the 4 of us, and it was REALLY nice not to have to lift a finger to cook or clean. Very relaxing!
On Black Friday we ventured out to downtown Salida. Stopped for some appetizers and beverages before the Parade of Lights!
We ran in to the Andrews Crew (Cooper and Laiken pictured here with JR and Alex).
We got prime seating along the road for the parade. It was chilly! But the kids didn't seem to mind one bit.
The parade was pretty small, but it was great. The one here in Colorado Springs has become so big over the years we would never be able to get this close and personal.
After the parade they did a firework show, and lit up the "S" on the mountain. It was pretty cool!

After the parade, we headed over to Elevation to meet our friends Danielle, Jeff, Kim, and Mike. They were having a party and raffling off all sorts of prizes.

A new pair of glasses fell in JR's lap! He was SO STOKED!!
He loves them. Loves, loves, loves them.

We went to lunch at Moonlight pizza (again), and then went and did some wine sampling at the little winery across the street from the town home.
These two were content!
The rest of the afternoon we just sort of hung out and took it easy. I didn't have a cake or a big fancy birthday dinner, but I had a wonderful time celebrating with our friends, Jeff, and the kids. I'm a pretty lucky gal!
Headed back on Sunday morning and all packed up!
Didn't take long for these two to pass out. Late nights and early wake-ups.
Jeff surprised me with all of these wonderful gifts Sunday afternoon that him and the kids had picked out for me. New slippers to replace my old ones that I have had for a few years now, some yummy lotions, a coffee gift card, my annual Starbucks ornament, and a cool little insulated flute!
I'm spoiled.
This week the kids have a full week of school, but only a few weeks left until they almost have 3 weeks off for Christmas break.
