I snapped some pictures of some pretty blooms taking place in our yard. Our first time getting to see everything full-cycle.
Chives, anyone?
I got to work from home with the kids last Tuesday, so we decided to run some errands and grab some Rita's at lunch.
Wednesday we were packed and loaded by 9:00 am, and we were on the road. Didn't take long for this one to pass out on our way up to Glenwood Springs.
We arrived around 3:00 pm, and checked in to our Hotel. It was called Hotel Denver, and was in PRIME location to walking to just about everywhere.
We didn't waste anytime finding the local rock and gem shop.
The owner of the shop had the COOLEST one in a million geode.
It was opened to show a 7 point star. Extremely rare!
We found a place called Juicy Lucy for happy hour, and a snack!
Up close pictures of the gems they picked out, and put in a necklace that we bought.
Then, we were off to a cool little taco shop around the corner for dinner called Slope and Hatch. It was delicious!
We ran into some of the Glenwood Springs FD, and they were super friendly and helped the kids find some tasty ice cream for dessert. Thanks, fellows!
The next morning we were up early to head to the Glenwood Caverns and Adventure Park. $200 later, and we were on the gondola to the top of the canyon.
Super cool to look down and see the awesome views. It was a long ways down!
Talk about a great view!
We loved riding the alpine coaster, and the zip line. Both kids were tall enough to finally ride some decent rides! JR and I got brave, and did the Haunted Mine Drop. It was an 110 foot drop in the dark, and I almost pooped my pants. It was a VERY long 3 seconds!
Then, for whatever reason--I think it had to do with the fact there was NO line, Jeff and I got on this terrifying swing that hung over the canyon. About 4 seconds in I immediately regretted my decision.
I had the feeling of becoming weight-less, and the view from the swing looking over the canyon was terrifying. OMG. What were we thinking??? Jeff went directly to the gift shop for some Dramamine afterwards. We are getting too old!
After Jeff felt a little better, we played a couple of rounds of laser tag. The kids had a BLAST.
We also got a really cool cave tour--a lot like Cave of the Winds!
Quick stop for lunch snacks...
They had a cool 4D theater that we watched a little mini movie on. JR's glasses--LOL.
So many cool things included in this park--and there were ZERO lines! It was a great time of year to visit.
We managed to spend the entire day at the park, and had a great time.
Ride back down...
We decided to make reservations for dinner at The Pullman that was right across the way from our hotel. It was awesome!
One of the best PBJ's I have ever tasted. JR agreed!

After dinner we walked around for a bit and got some cool pictures from the bridge.

Then, Friday morning we were off for the short drive to Grand Junction.
Who says you need to spend lots of money traveling to Mexico, when you can visit the La Quinta? Hahahah! The kids had a blast swimming--I of course, didn't bring my swimsuit not realizing it was an out door pool. So! Off to Target I went!
Saturday we hung around the pool and got ready for the wedding. My cousin Cindy's youngest son Jordan was getting married to his lovely bride, Hannah.
We clean up pretty well, eh?

It was nice that Jeff got to meet some of my cousins, 2nd cousins, and my Aunt Jean and Uncle Stan who came out from Illinois.
We blew bubbles and the happy couple left the reception. Alex was standing in a pile of ants, and that totally freaked her out.
Oooops!
On Sunday, we decided to play tourist with Mom and Dad and went to downtown Grand Junction. Most of the stores were closed--but we still had a good time.
How do you get JR to stop talking so much? Shove a chip in his mouth, Grandma!
After downtown, we decided to visit a couple of the Palisade wineries.
We need to go back when we have more than just a couple hours to visit.

Then we headed out to Cousin Cindy's house for a family BBQ. Of course mom got her hands on one of Jeff's twins. So cute !

After our visit--the kids wanted to swim. So, they did a little night swimming. The Best!
Monday we were up early and on the road. We decided to stop at Beau Jo's Pizza for lunch in Idaho Springs. I miss their pizza! That crust with the honey? Mmmmmmm.
And...out again.
Another one bites the dust. Too much fun!
]OH! We were happy to find Molly and Moses well taken care of, and these baby birds that hatched under our deck while we were gone. Mouths wide open and looking for mama!
This week the kids are doing a couple of days at the program they did this past Spring Break, only without Gavin and Gwyn. They are doing lots of field trips! Tomorrow they get to stay with me, and I signed them up for a painting class. This weekend is soccer, Father's Day, and hopefully meeting Amanda in Denver for lunch on Saturday.
