Alex Turns ONE--Happy First Birthday!

Can you believe it? My baby sister turned ONE yesterday at 3:28 PM (to be exact). If you were hoping for a TON of pictures and even some video of this special occasion...you are in luck.

Mom and Dad decided to decorate for the party Friday evening, after Alex and I were in bed. On Saturday morning, Dad took BOTH Alex and I with him to pick up the cake(s) and the balloons so that Mom could start preparing for the Cake Smash photo shoot and the actual party.
Saturday morning...looking festive!

The Birthday Cake, and the Smash Cake from Boonzaaijer's Dutch Bakery:

Of course Alex decided to take a SUPER long nap while our photographer, Shannon Coker arrived promptly at 10:30 ready to take pictures. Mom had to finally wake her up at 11:30 so that Shannon wasn't waiting around all day. Nobody was sure how Alex would react to being stripped down and sat in front of a cake with a picture in her face. BUT...she did FANTASTIC!! Shannon captured so many wonderful pictures. Mom couldn't be HAPPIER.

Get ready to see the difference between the pictures from Mom's camera phone, and what came out of Shannon's talent and professional camera...

Cake = DESTROYED. Total success!!

This was toward the end...and Alex was STILL going at it. Mom was getting twitchy thinking about all the butter cream (pure sugar) that Alex had ingested by this point.

She was also very distracted by the balloons...we finally had to move them out of her reach.

Okay...you ready for this? These are just some of the 657 pictures that Shannon captured...

This one? This one is Dad's favorite:

Mom can't decide as she truly loves them all

Look at that face!

You guys...I waited SO patiently as I sat and watched Alex tear into that cake.  I was DYING to have it.  So, towards the end...Mom gave me permission to go and help her out:

Awwwwww, right?

I got slimed with frosting!!

Happy girl!

Thanks to Mom's friend, Catie...for letting us use the cake stand.  It was perfect!

After Alex's cake smash, she got all cleaned up and took another nice, long nap in the afternoon. She woke up just in time for her party guests to arrive.

Gwyn, Emma, and Cami enjoying party food:

"Awww, really?  More pictures?"

Mmmmmm....

Alex's Birthday party friends:

During the course of the party, the Denver Broncos were on TV as they had made it to the playoffs! It was a nail-biting game that went in to TWO Over Times! Of COURSE this only happens when there is cake to be eaten, and presents to be opened. Sadly the Broncos lost...but that didn't ruin Alex's party fun.

Mom captured everyone singing Happy Birthday to Alex (she wasn't quite sure what to make of it):

More cake?

Gavin and I patiently waiting for our slices:

Oh yeah!

LOL

Time to open presents:

Gwyn and Emma were happy to help!

I also was a BIG help opening presents (hahahah).

Mr. Gregg brought his super nice camera (and talent) with him to the party and captured some GREAT pictures!
Pretty Gwyn:

I managed not to run over any baby girls!

Pretty Baby Cami also chowing down (LOL)

Daddy and Alexandrea admiring Cake #2 of the day:

Ooooh. & Yes...it tasted just as good as it looked. Butter cream on the outside, with vanilla cake, Bavarians Cream and Strawberry filling on the inside. It was VERY good:

My Mom and Dad! They survived their first year with my Baby Sister (and they BOTH admit that I was a much "easier" baby). Maybe that is because there were two of them and only one of me?

LOVE this shot!

Me!

Mr. Shawn and Grandpa observing:

Mmmmm.

The Gavinator digging in:

This Birthday stuff is TIRING.

Present:

Ms. Robin & Emma watching the present opening:

We were so happy to have so many wonderful pictures of this celebration. Mom had Shannon show up at my 1st Birthday party back in October of 2010!

After the party, Grandma and Grandpa hung around to help us clean-up (Thank You!). Mom had nursed Alex to sleep, and not to long after...heard her on the monitor. She went up and checked on her...put a pacifier in her mouth...and she went right back to sleep. About 30 mins later...Mom heard her crying and whimpering on the monitor again. Mom sent Dad up to go and check on her, and that is when Dad discovered Alex was completely covered in vomit. )-: Mom and Dad managed to get her all cleaned up and her bedding switched out, when right before they put her back in her PJ's...she did it again. & then she did it again...and again...and again. She probably got sick about 9 times between 9:00 and 12:30 AM. Mom was thisclose to calling the afterhours number when all of a sudden...she stopped. She woke up again around 3:30 in the morning and nursed, and was just fine. Mom was so thankful that nothing more came of it, as they were worried they were going to have to take her to the ER in fear that she got into something she shouldn't have or swallowed something that wasn't supposed to be swallowed. She was perfectly normal all day on Sunday. Phew.

On her actual Birthday (Sunday, January 13th)...

Soo...aside from all the throwing up that took place last Saturday night, Alex had a wonderful FIRST Birthday. We can't wait to see what the next year has in store for her.

Mom also created a little slideshow in honor of her First Birthday. Enjoy!
