Devin's Rodeo and Thanksgiving in Texas

We are back from our long Thanksgiving trip to Texas and all caught up!  We left last Saturday and travel went exceptionally well. Alex and I are old pro's now!  We came back Thanksgiving evening and arrived in Denver around 8:30 PM. Again...Alex and I did a wonderful job traveling.

Before we left...Mom got some "girl" time with her friends! They went and had dinner and time at The Beauty Bar Downtown.  See Mom's purty toenails?

Mom sure is lucky to have such nice ladies as friends!

We left Saturday afternoon, the 22nd of November.  Alex napped almost the entire flight.

Devin was still in the hospital, so he drove straight to Fort Worth after we arrived.  Mom, Alex and I rode with Granddaddy to Mumsie's house where we got all settled in.  Snuggling with Panda:

This is Zima.  She gets into EVERYTHING.  But isn't she adorable?

Sunday was the day of Devin's Rodeo Benefit.  We were up early and ready to show our support for Devin.  She was still in the hospital recovering from a severe ear infection and pneumonia, so she was not able to attend her event.

Alex and I had a great time wondering around the arena and watching the barrel races.  Devin had a huge crowd there supporting her.

Cousin Rob, Cousin Micki, Granddaddy and Alex.  We all arrived super early and got to watch some of the practices.

Devin's 18th Birthday Cake!

We enjoyed saying hello to all the friendly horses.

Very cool.

After the rodeo benefit, we drove to Fort Worth to visit with Devin.  Alex and I lasted a few minutes in her room before we decided it was time to go play.

We had a good visit with Devin, although she couldn't hear very well at all.

Monday was November 24th!  Mom, Devin, and Cousin Micki's Birthday's! We had plans to visit Devin again Monday morning, but she was sent home after almost 9 days in the hospital.  She was ready to get out of there!

Dad took Mom out for coffee.  Mmmmmm.

Mumsie made Mom her FAVORITE French Silk Pie.  We *may* have had some for lunch dessert! It was delicious.  Even Alex ate 3 slices throughout the week and licked the plate (and she is NOT a sweet-tooth).

Mom, Mumsie and Daddy visited a cool little Brew House in Denton.  Grandaddy and Aunt Amanda stayed back with us while we napped and played.

Hey, Dad! You look might comfortable!

All the adults went out for a wonderful Birthday Dinner at Kenny's Woodfire Grill.  It was soooooo good!  Aunt Amanda babysat us and we had a great time hanging with her.

On Tuesday, we visited Nanny, Adie, Cousin Allison, Cousin Erin, Great Aunt Linda, Great Uncle Paul, and my Great Grandma and Great Grandpa in Arlington.  Nanny picked up these amazing cupcakes for dessert.  Mom should have captured more pictures.

On Wednesday, we went out to visit Devin at her house in Sanger, TX.  We picked up some pretty flowers for her to celebrate her 18th Birthday.

We had a great visit with Devin, and she looked MUCH better than she did when we visited her on Sunday.  AND! She could HEAR much better, too!

She took us outside to show us her favorite horse, Frito.  Frito wouldn't come to close...but it was great to finally get to see him in person!

Devin's Aunt won the raffle for a REALLY cool saddle, and gave it to Devin for her Birthday. Alex got a kick out of sitting on it and trying it out.

We got to visit with Devin for about 3.5 hours before you could tell she was getting tired.  So we left her house, and went straight to Momma and Poppa's house for Thanksgiving Dinner. Taylor sat at the "kids table" with us.  She is such a sweetie!

At least Aunt Amanda got the "cheese" memo!  Dinner was delicious!

Taylor, Alex and a I sitting on Mumsie's Poo Bear from when she was little.

On Thursday, we had another Thanksgiving dinner at Mumsie's and Granddaddy's house.  It was a smaller group than usual...but it was great!  And again...the food was delicious.

After dinner, we headed out to catch our plane.  The airport was EMPTY on Thanksgiving Evening.

We got home to our house around 10:30 PM.  Alex and I were OUT, and actually managed to sleep in on Friday morning.

On Friday morning...we decided to go ahead and put up the Christmas Decor.

Alex totally "gets it" this year and had a blast hanging all the ornaments.

Later that afternoon...we went over to Don and Margaret's for another Thanksgiving Dinner.  Did I mention we ate a LOT of turkey over this past week?

Ahhh! There we go! Margaret always cooks up an amazing meal, and Grandma and Grandpa brought more French Silk Pie!

On Saturday we did some Furniture shopping. Although Mom and Dad ultimately decided that they would hold off on buying any new furniture at this time.

On Sunday we got quite a bit done around the house, and decided to pay Santa a visit on Sunday evening.  I of course...had NO issues climbing on Santa's lap and putting my requests in. Alex on the other hand?  She wasn't having ANY of it (per usual).  That's okay...I put her order in for her.  Ha!

This was from 2 years ago.  See? Nothing has changed!

Dad is leaving today to visit Devin as she has her PET scan taking place tomorrow.  The PET scan will determine if the Cancer is GONE, and if she needs any radiation. We are crossing our fingers that there will be NO signs of the cancer, and she can finish out with just two more rounds of chemo. Hoping to report some excellent news here next week regarding Devin and her progress.  Wish Mom luck...she is going to need it handling Alex and I without Daddy around! (-:
